Crash-test results shape injury claims, and insurers price injury claims into the premium. A high rating does not set a fixed discount. Ask your insurer which safety equipment earns one.

A recall is a safety defect the maker must repair at no cost to you. Insurers do not price a recall directly. An open recall can raise the chance of a claim, so repair it when you get the notice. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls for open recalls on your vehicle.
